So it’s finally decided. You’re getting married. There’s nothing quite like planning to spend the rest of your life with the one you love. Choosing the perfect outfit, the perfect guest list, fabulous flowers and the perfect wedding venue… It’s all very exciting.

Speaking of wedding venues, have you picked your perfect spot yet? Choosing the perfect wedding venue isn’t easy, and it’s possibly the only part of the wedding planning that’s not optional. After all, you will need a space to house all your guests.

From elegant ballrooms to white sandy beaches, or a holiday inn, the options are endless. Here are the steps you can take to pick your perfect wedding venue.

1. Finalise your wedding vision

This is the best place to start when picking a venue. What kind of vibe are you looking for on the big day? For a more modern aesthetic, art galleries and restaurants might be top of your list. For a more relaxed, natural vibe, consider parks, ranches and other outdoor venues. 

2. List your must haves

Discuss with your partner what your must-haves are for your venue. This will vary between couples, and will help you to narrow down your search. For example, do you want something pet friendly? Inhouse catering? Or perhaps you want the flexibility to bring your own caterers.

7. Call or visit your fave ones

Once you’ve narrowed down your list to a few venues, contact each one and ask them pertinent questions  about available dates, capacity and your must-haves. And don’t forget to stop by for a tour before making your final decision.

8. Choose and sign on the dotted line

Once you and your partner have come to a decision on the wedding venue, request a contract. Be sure to give it a thorough read before signing.
