Wedding Venue Checklist: 10 Must-Haves for any Venue
Choosing a wedding venue is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make in your wedding planning. It’s literally where the whole event will happen. It’s where you and your love will exchange your vows and say ‘I do.’ Needless to say, it has to be perfect. Or at least as close to perfect as possible.
Here are 10 things to look for when choosing your wedding venue:
- Nice, big bathroom
As the bride, you might choose a nice poofy dress that needs two people to keep it out of the toilet. So you want to look for bathroom stalls that can fit at least two persons, plus your dress.
- Changing room
Spills happen. Or you may simply want to slip into something comfy after the ceremony. You want somewhere comfortable to change without worrying about crushing and getting messed up.
- One event at a time
Unless you don’t mind sharing space with another couple. Sadly, some wedding venues try to fit multiple weddings and ceremonies on the same day. So be sure to ask upfront.
- Open bar/option to bring your own bar
You and your guests are going to want to relax and sip champagne or wine after the service. Be sure your venue either carries an open bar, or allows you to bring your own bar.
- Nice backdrop for photos
You just got married to the love of your life. You’re going to want to take some stunning photos. So look for wedding venues with a nice, natural backdrop.
- Parking
Most likely people will be driving to your wedding, and you don’t want them to be running late because they have to search for parking.
- Close to a hotel
This is a good idea in case you have guests traveling from afar. This gives those guests the option to spend the night somewhere close by before heading back home the next day.
- Ceremony and reception in one place
Not really a “must-have” but just think of the convenience! And many wedding venues these days include beautiful reception areas.
- Freedom to decorate
You might want to do your own decor. Or you might just want a ready done package. Be sure to check what you’re allowed to do at each venue.
- Staffing
Does your venue come with a coordinator? This can be incredibly helpful in ensuring the day runs smoothly.
The wedding venue plays a huge role in your big day, so it’s worth the effort to find the perfect one. Use this handy wedding venue checklist to help you in your search.
